Workplace: L&W Insurance

Insurance salesman may not be a job most children dream about, but second-generation insurance professional Jennifer Wilson saw the importance of the role from her father, who grew his own business.
Over the last 13 years, Wilson has also immersed herself in the insurance industry, gaining experience with notable agencies and building trust with a long list of clients. Today, she is director of group benefits for Dover-based independent agency L&W Insurance, where she helps to provide education, guidance and support for employers as their employees go through the ups and downs in life. As a former president for the Delaware Association of Benefits & Insurance Professionals (DABIP), Wilson has also remained engaged with the everchanging insurance industry.
As a female leader in an industry that is historically male dominated, Wilson emphasizes mentorship. She served as president of Wilmington Women in Business for two years and has continued mentoring women and insurance professionals.
Outside of insurance, Wilson also served on the board of Serviam Girls Academy in Wilmington for six years, chairing its largest fundraising event for three years in a row, and today serves on the board for Girls Inc. of Delaware, which empowers young girls to succeed.
When she’s not cheering from the sidelines of her sons’ football or baseball games, Wilson and her family enjoy traveling, having visited 35 of 50 states and 17 of the 63 National Parks. They aim to reach them all.
