Historic Takings in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
This video was originally made for the Depuy/Brodhead Family Association Meeting August 6, 2022. This screencast is also being used for ANT 102, Anthropology and World Problems, at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania (Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield Universities of Pennsylvania).
This screencast discusses my book, “Historic Takings in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area,” with a particular focus on Chapter Five which covers the actions of the federal government which according to local sources used unfair practices in purchasing property from landowners. The result was the destruction of a way of life in the valley for the never-built Tocks Island Dam in what is today the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
