Yá’át’ééh my relatives. Today is Wednesday, June 22 and earlier this week, for only the second time in our nation’s history we celebrated #Juneteenth as a National Holiday. Over My Second Cup of Coffee I discuss why it is imperative that we teach white America the truth about our country and Juneteenth. It did NOT mark the end of chattel slavery in the United States. Chattel slavery was legally practiced in the northern Union states of Delaware and Kentucky for 6 months after Juneteenth, until December 6, 1865.
