The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro renders arrive, Exynos 2400 benches: Week 4 in review
Here we are at the end of Week 4 of 2024. The top stories continued to be about Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series but Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 series managed to steal some of the spotlight.
We saw renders both of the Pixel 9 Pro and of the Pixel 9. Here’s the summary – the Pixel 9 Pro will adopt a flat display and sides, shrink the screen from 6.7″ to 6.5″, and do away with the visor camera island in favor of a pill-shaped one. There are three cameras inside – likely a wide, ultrawide, and periscope zoom. The Pixel 9 renders reveal that the 6.1-inch device will also be flat front and back. The biggest takeaway is that the smaller Pixel will finally get a zoom camera. We’ll have to see whether it matches the one on the Pixel 9 Pro.
The Galaxy S24 series managed to break the S23 series’ Indian orders by three weeks. The Galaxy S24 Ultra was drop and scratch-tested and fared impressively. We also saw its internals in a teardown, the highlight of which is the nearly doubled vapor chamber.
Samsung’s latest flagship chipset edged out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Geekbench and 3D Mark Solar Bay GPU tests.
The latest top-tier Samsung flagship earned a 9/10 repairability score from PBKreviews, just like its predecessor.
Motorola revealed which of its phones will get Android 14. It’s a long list, featuring devices from the Razr series, the Edge series, the G series, and the ThinkPhone. The OnePlus 12 and 12R went global this week. The 12 will ship in North America, Europe, and India from February 6. The 12R is shipping in India first – on February 6, and then from February 13 in North America and Europe.
