Birmingham construction company working on $275 million North Carolina casino expansion
Birmingham-based Robins & Morton is continuing work on a new 12-story hotel tower at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River in Murphy, N.C.
The company expects to finish the second phase of an expansion project at the casino this winter.
Harrah’s opened a new 25,000 square-foot casino floor, and 10-table poker room, in May.
The next portion of the expansion project will include 296 additional hotel rooms, an indoor pool and fitness center. There will be a 12,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant, featuring a 12-seat bar and wine cellar.
In addition, guests can enjoy a 9,600-square-foot spa, featuring six treatment rooms, relaxation lounge and salon.
In late June, the construction company celebrated the topping out of the project’s 12-story hotel tower. The event was attended by Harrah’s Cherokee leadership, dignitaries from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and Robins & Morton leadership .
“Robins & Morton has served as the general contractor on the Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino Resort expansion for the last 18 months and it has been a true privilege,” Robins & Morton Project Director Nick Dill said.
“Robins & Morton has worked with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and the Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise for many years, and this project is an extension of that partnership. We are honored to continue to serve this community.”
