A casino in North Las Vegas that closed last fall has undergone a renovation and will soon reopen with a new name.

After more than half a century in business, Poker Palace Casino at 2757 Las Vegas Blvd. in North Las Vegas closed its doors on Sept. 30, 2025. The Coleman family, which owned the locals boutique casino throughout its history, dating back to 1974, sold the nearly five-acre property to Reno-based Truckee Gaming.
Much to the delight of many Las Vegas locals, who feared the buyer would level the property to make way for residential units, Truckee Gaming announced its intent to renovate and reopen the casino. Before the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) this week, Truckee Gaming founder and CEO Ferenc Szony told the state regulators that the Poker Palace overhaul will be complete in the coming weeks.
Poker Palace’s New Name
Seeking a nonrestricted gaming license, inclusive of race and sports betting privileges, Szony told the NGCB that Truckee’s investment will return the Poker Palace property to being an attractive spot for locals.
It looked like if Circus Circus and the Excalibur had a baby,” Szony said, referencing the Strip’s lower-market casino resorts. “It needed a dramatic change.”
Szony explained that the renovation included a full gut job. The Truckee Gaming CEO said the inside is now much more modern.
Szony also revealed a new name for the casino: Club Fortune North. With the Board’s blessing, Truckee is scheduling a mid-April opening.
Among Truckee’s 10 casinos in Nevada is Club Fortune Casino in Henderson. The Club Fortune properties will operate 16 air miles apart.
Casinos Bullish on Las Vegas Locals
Though the Las Vegas Strip is struggling, with gaming revenue flat year-over-year in 2025 and visitor volume down 7.5% from 2024, the influx of people making Southern Nevada their new home has led to increased demand for locals casinos. Such facilities cater to residents with smaller casinos and neighborhood dining, without the hassle of venturing onto the Strip or downtown.
Much of the locals bullishness has been on the south side of the Strip, with Boyd Gaming recently announcing that its new Jokers Wild casino called Cadence Crossing will open next month. Truckee is targeting the north side. Szony told the NGCB that he grew up in North Las Vegas, and it’s amid significant growth.
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Southern Nevada has been among the nation’s fastest-growing areas. Since 2019, the Las Vegas population has soared 16% from approximately 2.62 million residents to 3.04 million.
The US Federal Housing Finance Agency reports that the average price for a single-family home sale in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Paradise has skyrocketed 61% from $232,700 in the fourth quarter of 2019 to $374,400 in Q3 2025. Much of the influx of wealth is due to Californians relocating to Southern Nevada.
