The new Redmi Watch 6 is thinner and has an extra button

The new Redmi Watch 6 brings a slimmer design, an extra button and other improvements over the Redmi Watch 5 that was announced just under a year ago. The watch is available in China now at a price of CNY 600 ($85/€75/₹7,500), the same price as the previous model. It comes in three colors: Blue, Silver and Black.

Like its predecessor, the Watch 6 has a rectangular 2.07” OLED display with rounded corners. However, the new display is brighter and can reach 2,000 nits peak, up from 1,500 nits. Slimmer bezels also make for smaller dimensions – 46.5 x 40.0 x 9.94mm, compared to 47.5 x 41.1 x 11.3mm.

Let us underscore that last dimension again – the 2025 watch is a hair under 10mm thick. This is an important milestone and will make the watch feel smaller on your hand. It weighs about the same at 31g vs. 33.5g (note: this is without the strap).

On the side of the aluminum alloy unibody is the familiar stainless steel crown – and a new shortcut button. This can trigger three customizable actions: click, long press and double click. By default, these show the control center, open the power menu and call your emergency contact.

Always On Display is an option, but it will eat into your battery life. The 550mAh battery is the same capacity as last year and can last up to 24 days with light usage, up to 12 days with health tracking enabled and up to 7 days with AOD enabled.

The Redmi Watch 6 features dual L1 antennas for more precise positioning outdoors. It also has the usual heart rate, blood oxygen and sleep tracking, plus 150+ sports modes. It’s rated 5ATM, so it’s suitable for snorkeling and can even continue to measure your heart rate under water.

The watch comes with HyperOS 3 out of the box and supports Bluetooth 5.4 for communication with your phone. There’s no eSIM option available yet. It supports QR-based payment systems as well as NFC for things like digital bus passes and car keys.

It can also handle quick replies to WeChat messages. You can install third-party apps for extra functionality, e.g. Flightradar24, games like 2048 and others.

Again, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 is already available in China, but there is no word on a global release. Seeing how the Watch 5 is widely available, we think it’s only a matter of time.
